Load banks for commissioning and acceptance testing

Wind, solar, charging infrastructure and microgrids must prove their output before they go on the grid. A load bank takes the power without the customer or the grid having to be in place.

We have sold and delivered a 500 kW load bank to a Swedish installer of backup power.

Test before grid connection

Before a site is connected to the grid you want to know it reaches its rated power. The load bank takes the power and shows what the site delivers at factory test and at commissioning.

Wind and solar

Load banks are used for factory testing of wind turbines and for testing solar inverters and grid-forming inverters. Sites can be tested before grid connection.

EV charging infrastructure

Fast chargers and charging parks are tested at full power during commissioning, without needing vehicles. This applies to charging power in the range of 150–1,000 kW.

Microgrids and energy storage

In a microgrid or an energy storage site, the acceptance test shows that the site handles the agreed power. The load bank gives a known load to measure against.

Frequently asked questions

Can a load bank test an inverter?

Yes. The load bank takes the power from the inverter, so you can test it without a grid connection.

Can you test chargers without cars?

Yes. The load bank replaces the vehicles and takes the charging power during commissioning.

What power do I need?

Choose a load bank that handles at least the site's power in kW. For larger sites several units can be used together, or a larger custom solution.

What does a load bank cost?

Price example: the standard configuration costs SEK 300,000 for 500 kW and SEK 500,000 for 1 MW, excluding VAT and freight. Installation is not included. For options and other sizes we send a quote.
