In a hospital the backup power has to work the first time. Regular full-load testing shows that it does, before an outage puts it to the test.

Operating rooms, intensive care and alarm systems must not lose power. Backup power is part of patient safety. It should be tested under real load, not only started.

Whether you test yourselves or through your service provider, the test can be done when it suits operations.
Requirements for backup power
Backup power in healthcare premises is governed by, among others, the Swedish building regulations (BBR). Standards such as ISO 8528 and NFPA 110 describe testing of the generators. Check what applies to your site.
Plan the test
Plan each test with the person responsible for operations. The load bank connects to the generator and supplies the load, so the test does not depend on what the building draws at that moment.
Right size
Choose by generator output. If you have several generators of different sizes, one larger load bank can serve them all.

How often should backup power be tested?
That depends on the requirements and routines of your organisation and your insurer. Check your own requirements. We sell the equipment, not the routine.
Can a service provider use our load bank?
Yes. The load bank is mobile and can be used by your own technicians or by your supplier.
What size suits a hospital?
It follows the generator output. For generators up to 500 kW the 500 kW model fits, for larger generators up to 1,000 kW the 1 MW model fits.
What does a load bank cost?
Price example: the standard configuration costs SEK 300,000 for 500 kW and SEK 500,000 for 1 MW, excluding VAT and freight. Installation is not included. For options and other sizes we send a quote.
